My mom does most/all of the Christmas shopping for my 84-year-old grandmother. This year, I received both NBA 2K11 and Black Ops for Christmas, both of which my mom actually purchased.
However, my mom gave me NBA 2K11 because she didn’t want to give me a “murdering” game. So she let my grandmother put her name on the package give me Black Ops.
This makes sense.

I was in small claims court in Brooklyn tonight, which we like to call Night Court, but it really isn’t at night, nor is it court as most of you would recognize it. There is no Bull, no cool magician judge or entertaining court clerk, but there are plenty of weirdos.
I had the misfortune of sitting in front of a guy who had more snorts, coughs, hacks, burps, sneezes, throat clears, and...
Why do people keep calling me? Don’t they know it is Thursday, which is almost Friday, which is basically the weekend?
My office Christmas holiday party is tonight. I am probably going to do both of my dance moves.

I finished reading Sex, Drugs and Cocoa-Puffs this morning when I was waiting in the courtroom. I immediately switched to my new book, “Love Is A Mix Tape” by Rob Sheffield. The guy beside me said, “You carry two books around?”
Doesn’t everyone?
Weird Thing I Do
Yesterday, I was out to a pub lunch with two co-workers and we were talking to the bartender and an Elvis Presley Christmas song came on.
The bartender said, “Oh the guy who sings this is the narrator in Elf and sings that Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” In my head, “No, the “narrator” (if there was one) of Elf was Bob Newhart, but I know what you are getting at....

I got a technical in last night’s Lawyer’s League basketball game for hanging off the rim after I dunked on some fool.

I have not bothered to check if Chuck Klosterman is supposed to be good, because I really enjoy his writing…
I am currently reading this book and I feel the same way. I like and even identify with Klosterman (I’ll call him Chuck) —-although, explaining to people who he is and why you are reading a book of pop-culture essays is always difficult.
He is...
While at Irving Plaza last night, they were advertising upcoming shows. My girlfriend and I saw that Third Eye Blind is playing there on 12/30. We laughed and thought we would check out tickets, just for fun.
When we got home, we looked the show up online and came to the startling realization that Third Eye Blind may have dramatically overestimated the demand for late 90’s light-alt-rock....
I unironically went to see Cake perform last night and it was really fun, just as I had suspected. There are a lot of background vocals in their songs, which make for a fun evening of audience participation. Instead of everyone just singing the main verse, the crowd sings/yells the background vocals. John McCrea, the lead singer/speaker in Cake also does an excellent job in splitting up the...

I went to a record fair last weekend. There was a section entitled “college music.” I picked up a record there and to my surprise, it had the Notre Dame fight song on it and NOT Blackstreet - No Diggity.
On the first legit chilly day of the year, my office building jacks the heat way up. Because today was the first legit chilly day of the year, I unfortunately chose to wear a nice sweater.
Now, in a cruel twist of fate, I, Tumblr —- I am the “sweater.”

“Yesterday, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear announced that his state’s Creationism Museum will soon be joined by a creationism theme park. The theme park will cost $150 million and is scheduled to be finished in four years, approximately 1,454 days longer than it took to create Earth.”

NASA Finds New Life →
danhacker:
Hours before their special news conference today, the cat is out of the bag: NASA has discovered a completely new life form that doesn’t share the biological building blocks of anything currently living in planet Earth. This changes everything.
At their conference today, NASA scientist Felisa Wolfe Simon will announce that they have found a bacteria whose DNA is completely alien...
